This is where my theory could be proven correct that, when, both palatial && ghetto mindsets converge, then there’s a chaos in terms of policy making, because according to me, they both are of same genre, with incredible energy level!
Gladiator II is basically: ((Gladiator I + Alexander / 2) == Gladiator II). So, it’s the median. You’ve ambitious sets, visual extravaganza of the original Rome served in the present times in theatres, and for that, it’s commendable. But not much to experience in 4DX.
We need to note that Gladiators weren’t ‘Normal People’. So, embracing ‘Normal People’ into the role of Gladiators, is both challenging for the protagonists/actors and audiences, as well.
The difference between Gladiator I and Gladiator II is -> Pace. And why further, Gladiator I trumps Gladiator II, is due to original musical score composed in the early 00; as era of late 90s and early 00, can’t be replicated.
As correctly said by Macrinus, only in Rome, once a Slave or Gladiator can become the Commander in Chief of the Roman Army. Thus, I won’t blame even Macrinus for taking revenge, as, if someone remembers the words from Kill Bill Volume – II, when Budd says that -> She Deserves Her Revenge And We Deserve To Die (If I’m Not Wrong). Just like Lucius was taking his Revenge, similarly he too was. And just alike Moron Emperors used the strength of Slaves to feed the Bread And Circus game show; similarly, Macrinus used the Emperors’ divine wisdom to take over the throne. I think maybe for one reason, Rome had become so much famous: For Every Caesar, There Was Brutus! Albeit No other Empire was any different too.
Now, it’s not the King, it is always the Republic. If Republic enjoyed colosseum, and Gladiators’ bloodbath, so why blame the Emperors? If the republic can revolt against the killing of Acacius or Lucilla, then they could’ve also revolted against the entire Bread and Circus show too! Correct? But they preferred to watch and enjoy, UNTIL, one of their own, whom they really loved and honored, ended up standing in the colosseum for the judgement of gods.
All said and done, a good watch.😊
