What defines an Actor or an Artist? A face with depth, all being natural, that when you watch him/her on screen, you sync with the natural emotions of that Artist. And maybe the personal ups & downs of Nicolas Cage in the last several years, made him evolved more & more amongst the finest of finest Artists, just alike what happened in case of Brendan Fraser; if incase one compares their present flicks, with the earlier ones, viz. Gone in 60 Seconds or Bedazzled.
Searching for a Publisher, only a true original writer or a researcher or a poet can understand. And this reference of search, was one of the wittiest moments in the flick. And we’ve witnessed, many plagiarism sagas, how and when, several well-paid well-known Columnists in the Mainstream, adapt or snip other’s work, without even giving reference or credit to the original individual(s) who published earlier, anticipating that none would come to know, as the mainstream’s audience reach is expansive; but alas, that wasn’t/isn’t the case! Similarly, Cage’s reaction, of his paper reference (idea) being stolen, further not finding a publisher to publish a book, and furthermore, then being taken on a ride by the PR / Advertising agencies & their employees, on an irrelevant journey of exploiting dreams or nightmares; itself became a night(day)mare scenario for the Protagonist .
The script is, he been seen in the dreams by/of hundreds & thousands of people; first he not helping others who’re in dire situations, and then later eventually, being attacking the dreamer itself; making him from the most loving, to the most hated man everywhere, and he navigating through all this, is well-portrayed. Whether the change in dreams of others was due to change in his own behavior, from being a polite man to an angry person, no idea! But as usual, a startup/unicorn coming out of thin air, in the end, by exploiting the Dream Scenario; creating another Tech product alike, erstwhile Twitter, TikTok, Wikipedia, Instagram, YouTube; but this time, playing inside the dreams of others, maybe without the Internet!
The pace resembled to this year’s Past Lives, which also I loved.
All said & done, it was indeed a good watch. 😊
